So You Want To Be A Video Gaming Software Engineer Designer ?

November 27, 2009 - 11:14 pm No Comments

It can be best summarized and stated that many in the computerized high tech gaming field think that writing those video games software and software routines might well be their “dream job”. Peachy keen. After all they well consider themselves video gaming aficionados. “After all I’ve got 10 Zillion points on Counterstrike”. ‘Why don’t girls like me?”
r
rThe sad truth of the matter is that the video gaming industry is multi-billion dollar cutthroat industry full of what you might well consider cut throat characters as to well what might be considered in the regular impoverished world of most computer gamers , absolute “low lives ” of the worst variety , kind and temperament. Lol, Lots of Luck when it comes to your fantasy job of computer gaming video software designer, designers and developers.
r
rIt can and might well be said that the biggest companies – those with the most marketing resources and push , as well as the deepest pockets to pay you , as a software designer and developer the highest salaries and pay bonuses can often be the hardest to get a job with. Everyone else wants to work for that well known branded company as well – with that great visibility, product as well as brand name recognition in the computer gaming field and fields. Welcome to the real world. Goodbye fantasy. Reality what a concept.
r
rStill it can be said that big companies, with the marketing will, budget and muscle for promoting their product in this competitive marketplace as always on the prowl for new talent with newer fresh innovative ideas, themes as well as product. One has to only look at the very competitive LCD / Plasma big screen TV market to note such a case. Not long ago it was Japanese Sony electronics that had the cachet and demanded a premium dollar price tag if you wished to purchase their product at your local big box high tech electronics store. Skip foreword in time and it next was Japanese manufacturers who manufactured their goods offshore from the island of the Rising Sun – such as Sharp Electronics. Currently in 2009 / 2010 the market leader in the electronics high tech Plasma / LCD TV video displays is held by many experts and commentators in the field to be Samsung – a strictly Korean as opposed to East Asian or East Asian Japanese rim company organization. How time changes the most highly competitive markets and marketing plans – video game platforms, consoles as well as the software integral to the satisfaction of most video gamers and video gaming junkies as well.
r
rThus as a competent and dedicated video gamer have heart that you at your best may well be able to implement and coordinate your best efforts and influence as well as enhance and develop those very video games and scenarios that you enjoy and relish so much. First of all develop of stable of your best products that you have worked on, or if you do not have software development of marketing skills – write your scenarios and projects on paper or word processor. This is your resume, work plan and business plan so speak. Make it polished and professional in appearance and presentation. The video marketing video authority Riteway Strokon has commented again and again “Presentation”. Lastly it’s up to you to hit the pavement or the email or fax road.

Resumes for Sales People – Your In Sales So Sell Yourself

November 27, 2009 - 8:56 pm No Comments

Very often when I sit down to review resumes for sales people, I am often very surprised at the number of basic mistakes that I notice with their sales resume. The problem with having these mistakes is they do not reflect well on the sales candidate.

These mistakes vary from silly things like poor spelling (which these days with word spell checks functionality being built into all word prcessor programs should never ever happen!) to more serious issues like poor targeting. When I say poor targeting I am referring to a situation where a sales candidate has just submitted a generic sales resume and not a ‘bespoke’ (for the vacancy) sales resume. In any case, what I want to look at here is when resumes for sales people have been prepared which do not sell the sales candidate.

If You Are in Sales – Then Sell Yourself

This statement actually applies to resumes for all disciplines, but is ‘especially important’ for resumes for sales people.

Just ask yourself, how likely is it that a potential employer will take the risk of employing or even take the time of interviewing a sales candidate for a sales job if they have not taken the initative or the time to properly promote them self – to ’sell’ them self – with their sales resume?

You see a sales person’s most important product is himself / herself. Therefore, it makes sense that being in sales, sales people spend time and effort selling themselves – especially when applying for jobs!

Of course, in presenting yourself, your ‘pitch’ will actually include dress, speech, attitude, behavior and manner and much more besides. But when it comes to applying for jobs – through the job application and resume channel – then it’s vital to remember that the 1st point of contact with the recruiters or hiring manager, is not you but your sales resume – so make it count please.

You may well be a dazzling sales executive and 100% perfect for the job, but if your resume does not get noticed and does not convey the appropriate qualities, then you are going to get passed over. And since most sales people don’t do it – a well-crafted sales resume really puts you light years ahead of the rest.

Resumes for sales people are not all equal. So take the opportunity, as a sales professional to make your sales resume really count. It must capture and sell your skills, accomplishments, experience and education in an eye-catching and exciting manner that truly addresses the sales vacancy, then you will be noticed and more importantly – then you will be granted those important sales interviews!

6 Creative Ways to Stand Out in the Job Search!

November 27, 2009 - 3:25 pm No Comments

Can’t get an interview?

Can’t get past the first interview?

Are you demonstrating the levels of commitment, drive, tenacity, skills and organization employers want?

Here are 6 tried and true ways to separate you from other candidates and be the candidate everyone wants to hire:

1.  Preparation = SWOT Analysis:

SWOT is a strategic planning tool.  It stands for Strengths (attributes helpful to achieving the objective), Weaknesses (attributes harmful to achieving the objective), Opportunities (external conditions that will be helpful to achieving the objective), and Threats (external obstacles or conditions that will harm the process).  Look at the picture–it helps.  Doing a SWOT analysis on the company demonstrates your drive, commitment, and skills, along with helping you create a better 30/60/90-day plan.

2.  30/60/90-Day Plan :

A 30-60-90-day plan is a short, 1-3 page outline for what you will do when you start the job.  Essentially, you spell out for your future employer, in as little or as much detail as necessary, how you will spend your time–in training, learning company systems, introducing yourself to customers, and your initial plan to build sales.  It demonstrates exactly how you’ll be an asset.  A 30/60/90-day plan is an almost-guaranteed way to impress any hiring manager or hiring team.

If you absolutely can’t get an interview, you could try e-mailing your 30/60/90-day plan to the sales manager.  It’s an attention-getter, and it could be the key to get you in the door.

3.  Video or Audio Communication :

Send the interviewer an audio of video clip of yourself.  Keep it short and sweet, and make sure you’ve checked lighting, background, and sound quality.  One idea:  Structure it like an elevator pitch–what can you do for the company and why can you do it?

4.  Brag Book :

A brag book is a folder/ binder that you can use during your interview process to clarify your skill sets.  It can include letters of recommendation, “attaboy” notes (or any notes commenting on what a good job you’ve done), staff ranking, annual reviews (if you include some, include them all), rewards letters, your resume, types of equipment you’ve used or marketed, certifications or other educational courses, any financial or PowerPoint presentations, copies of articles you’ve written, brochures you’ve helped develop, and a college transcript (though ONLY if you’re just getting out).  Here’s a link to a video that explains more.

5.  References :

It’s critical that you have winning references.  Some people believe that references never get called, but they do.  Make sure you’ve chosen good references, and know with stake-your-job-on-it certainty what they will say about you.  You can (and should) even coach them beforehand, to help them tailor their answers to the job.

6.  Follow-up/Thank You Notes :

Don’t underestimate how important thank you letters are in the job interview process.  Everybody “knows” they’re critical, but unbelievably, not everyone writes them.  Thank you letters accomplish several things:

  • They get your name in front of the hiring manager one more time.
  • They are your last chance to package yourself as the best, most qualified person for the job.
  • They are polite, and manners count.
  • They can be an example of your ability to take in information (the interview) and process and provide feedback or new ideas about whatever the problem was. For example:  “I thought about your concerns about how to handle xyz delivery issues, when I was a product manager at ABC corporation, we used………”
    (See what I mean?)

Handwritten thank-yous are nice, but e-mail thank yous are fast.  Sometimes, hiring decisions are made quickly, so a timely note can be crit

Excellent Ways To Write Cover Letter For Marketing Student

November 27, 2009 - 3:43 am No Comments

A cover letter is a letter of introduction attached to another document such as a resume or curriculum vitae.  It provides information related to your skills and experience. If you are looking for a career in marketing sector then it is very essential to write an impressive business document.

If you want to get a good marketing student job then you must write an effective cover letter. Given below are some important tips that will help you in writing a good marketing job application document.

1. Pay attention to format and font style
It is very important to remember that a cover letter must be perfectly centered and printed on plain white paper. Just use white paper and black ink along with a business font such as Ariel.

2. Try to be specific
The opening lines of the job application document should specifically address the person by name that makes the interview appointments. This will personalize your cover letter and draw attention in a way that “Dear Sir/Madam” simply can never achieve.

3. Correct grammar is very essential
Remember that the nice way to draft a business document is to write it totally flawless. You must be very careful while writing a cover letter. Just one silly mistake can stand out and cost you the job. A poorly printed cover letter having spelling mistakes will make a bad impression on the employer.
